All About Drinks exists for one purpose: education. This page states plainly what that means — and what we will never do.
Purely educational, nothing for sale
Every page on this site — drink profiles, recipes, history articles, pairing guides, glossary entries — is published to inform, not to sell. We do not sell drinks or any other product. We do not carry affiliate links to shops. We do not accept sponsorship, free samples, payment or any other consideration from drinks producers, distributors, retailers or marketing agencies. No article exists to promote a brand, and when a brand name appears it is there for the same reason it would appear in any encyclopedia: because the facts require it.
When advertising eventually funds the site, it will do so under strict separation from editorial content, as described in our Advertising Policy — and alcohol-brand sponsorship is permanently off the table.
Information, not encouragement
Describing a drink is not a recommendation to drink it. Our articles about alcoholic beverages document history, production methods and cultural context; they never suggest that anyone should drink, drink more, or drink to excess, and they never imply health benefits from alcohol. This commitment is spelled out in our Responsible Drinking Policy and Medical & Health Disclaimer. Recipes are provided for readers of legal drinking age who choose to make them; quantities and strengths are stated so readers can make informed decisions.
Our accuracy effort
We aim for encyclopedic reliability. Articles are researched against reputable published sources, fact-checked, and reviewed by a human editor before publication; significant claims carry citations in a sources section at the foot of the article. Where a story is legend rather than record — and drinks history is full of legends — we say so explicitly rather than repeating myth as fact. No reference work is perfect. When we get something wrong, we want to know and we fix it visibly: every page shows a last-updated date, and substantive corrections are noted on the page itself. Historical and cultural content
Drinks are woven into the history of every culture, and that history includes conquest, colonialism, slavery, prohibition and religious difference. We present this material respectfully and honestly: we do not sanitise the darker chapters (our tea history, for instance, discusses the opium trade and plantation labour), and we do not caricature any people or tradition. No country is reduced to a stereotype, no religious practice is mocked, and drinking cultures — including cultures of abstinence — are described on their own terms.
