Accessibility Statement

An encyclopedia is for everyone, or it is not much of an encyclopedia. This statement describes how accessible All About Drinks currently is, what standard we hold ourselves to, and how to tell us when we fall short.
Our standard
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA. Accessibility is checked as part of our publication process, not bolted on afterwards: new templates are tested with keyboard-only navigation and automated tooling before they ship, and content editors follow the heading, link-text and alt-text rules described below.
What is built in
- Keyboard navigation — every interactive element (menu, search overlay, filters, save/share buttons) is operable by keyboard alone, in a logical order; the search overlay can be dismissed with the Escape key.
- Skip link — a "Skip to content" link is the first focusable element on every page, letting keyboard and screen-reader users jump past the header.
- Visible focus — focused elements show a clear visible outline; we do not suppress focus styles.
- Colour and contrast — text and interactive elements meet or exceed WCAG AA contrast ratios against their backgrounds, and colour is never the only means of conveying information (for example, alcohol labels use text badges, not colour alone).
- Reduced motion — the site respects the
prefers-reduced-motionsetting; animations and transitions are disabled for readers who have asked their system for less motion. - Semantic structure — pages use proper landmarks (header, nav, main, footer), one
h1per page and a logical heading hierarchy, labelled navigation, and breadcrumbs marked up as such — so screen readers can outline and traverse a page sensibly. - Alt text policy — every meaningful image must carry alternative text describing its content before publication (enforced alongside the image-rights rule in our Editorial Policy); purely decorative graphics are marked so screen readers skip them.
- Resizable, readable text — layouts remain usable at 200% zoom and reflow on small screens without horizontal scrolling.
Known limitations
We would rather be honest than optimistic:
- Third-party content — if advertising goes live (see our Advertising Policy), ad content is rendered by the ad network and we cannot fully guarantee its accessibility; the same applies to any future third-party embeds. We currently avoid embeds for exactly this reason.
- Web fonts — our typefaces load from Google Fonts; if they fail to load, the site falls back to system fonts and remains readable.
- Older content drift — as standards and our own rules improve, older pages may temporarily lag (for example, alt text written to an earlier standard) until their next review cycle.
- PDF or downloadable files — we do not currently publish any; if we ever do, they will be produced to be accessible or accompanied by an accessible HTML version.
Assessment
This statement is based on self-assessment using automated checkers, manual keyboard testing and screen-reader spot checks. The site launched on 20 July 2026 and this statement will be reviewed as the site grows or the guidelines change.
Tell us where we fail
If any part of this site is difficult or impossible for you to use — a control you cannot reach by keyboard, an image without useful alt text, text you cannot read — please tell us at hello@allaboutdrinks.xyz or via the contact form. Accessibility reports are treated with the same priority as substantive corrections under our Corrections Policy: we aim to acknowledge within 7 days and to fix genuine barriers as quickly as we can.
