About All About Drinks

All About Drinks is a free, independent, educational encyclopedia of the world's beverages. Our mission is simple to state and endless to pursue: to be a trusted portal on the history, culture, craft and character of drinks — alcoholic and non-alcoholic alike — written with care, checked against sources, and open to everyone. From the tea gardens of Assam to the espresso bars of Milan, every drink has a story, and we are here to tell it well.

What we are

We are an encyclopedia, not a shop and not a lifestyle magazine. Our pages explain where drinks come from, how they are made, how they taste, how they fit into the cultures that created them, and how to prepare them thoughtfully at home. We cover the whole world of the glass and the cup: teas, coffees, juices, sodas and other soft drinks alongside beers, wines, spirits and cocktails — always from an educational standpoint, and always with the same curiosity and respect.

What we are never

• Never a seller. We do not sell drinks, take commissions on drinks, or link out to buy them.
• Never sponsored by drinks brands. No producer, distributor or retailer of beverages pays for coverage, and none ever will. Our advertising policy sets out the strict limits on any advertising we carry.
• Never behind a paywall. Everything we publish is free to read, with no account required.
• Never a source of medical advice. We write about what is in drinks and what research says, but nothing here replaces a qualified professional — see our medical disclaimer.
• Never aimed at minors. Content on alcoholic drinks is intended for readers of legal drinking age, and we never encourage excess. Our responsible drinking statement accompanies all such content.

How our content is made

Every entry is researched against reputable published sources, which we cite at the foot of the page. Drafting may involve AI assistance, and where it does, we say so on the page itself; every article is then reviewed, fact-checked and edited by our human editorial desk before publication. Entries touching on alcohol receive a second review, and anything touching on health is checked with particular care. Where we are going

All About Drinks is being built in phases. The first phase — the one you are reading now — is the encyclopedia itself: drink profiles, recipes, history and culture articles, pairing guides, the Academy and the glossary, beginning with the world of tea and growing outward drink by drink. Later phases will add interactive features such as richer search, tasting tools and personal collections. The saved items feature — which keeps your favourites privately in your own browser — is an early taste of that direction.
