Corrections Policy

An encyclopedia earns trust by how it handles its mistakes. We would rather publish a visible correction than quietly be wrong, and this page explains exactly how that works.

How to report an error

Two routes, both free and open to anyone:

• The corrections form — the fastest route, with fields for the page address and the problem.
• Email — hello@allaboutdrinks.xyz with "Correction" in the subject line.

The most useful reports tell us the exact page, the sentence or figure in question, what you believe is wrong, and — ideally — a source we can check. But do not let missing details stop you: a simple "I think this date is wrong" is enough to start an investigation. You may report anonymously; an email address is only needed if you would like to hear the outcome. Anything you send is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.

What happens next

Every report is logged and triaged:

• Acknowledgement — we aim to acknowledge every report within 7 days of receipt (where you have given us a way to reply).
• Priority triage — reports involving health-related statements, alcohol-safety issues or anything that could mislead readers about their wellbeing go to the front of the queue and are assessed as soon as they arrive, consistent with our Medical & Health Disclaimer.
• Investigation — an editor checks the claim against the article's cited sources and, where needed, additional research, following the sourcing standards in our Editorial Policy. Straightforward errors are usually resolved within days; genuinely contested points can take longer, and we will say so if they do.
• Outcome — we correct the page, or, if the original text turns out to be right, we keep it and explain why to the reporter. "We looked and disagree" is a legitimate outcome; ignoring a report is not.

How corrections appear

Transparency is the point:

• Every article displays a last-updated date, which changes whenever the content changes.
• Typographical and formatting fixes (spelling, broken links, layout) are made silently — they do not change meaning.
• Substantive corrections — a wrong date, figure, attribution or claim — are noted on the page itself, in a correction note stating what was changed and when, so readers who saw the earlier version are not left misinformed.
• We do not silently delete substantive errors and pretend they never existed.

What this policy does not cover

Differences of editorial judgement — which drinks deserve articles, how much space a topic gets, tone — are welcome as feedback but are not "corrections", and are handled as ordinary correspondence. Requests concerning copyright or image rights follow our Takedown Policy instead. Complaints that the site has breached one of its own policies (for example the Responsible Drinking Policy) are treated with the same priority as substantive corrections.

Why we publish this

A published, dated corrections process keeps us honest: it tells you what to expect and gives you the standard to hold us to. If we ever fall short of the timelines above, we would like to know that too — same address: hello@allaboutdrinks.xyz.
